Kevin Kraak
was born in Cape Town in 1982. Educated at St George's Grammar School and SACS, he studied organ with Prof Shirley Gie at University of Cape Town and obtained a First Class pass in his final public recital. Kevin was also a boy chorister in Cape Town Cathedral Choir under Dr Barry Smith, during which time he participated in the choir's numerous recordings for BBC Radio 3 Evensongs, BBC TV4 broadcasts and SABC worldwide broadcasts in services attended by Queen Elizabeth II and the then President and Deputy Presidents, Mandela, Mbeki and De Klerk.
Kevin has conducted the UCT Choir on tours in 2005 and 2006, as well as touring Europe as accompanist of the University of Johannesburg Choir in 2006. He has been the keyboard player in orchestras for theatrical productions including 'Phantom of the Opera' and 'The Lion King' in Gauteng, and is active in the field of freelance work.
He plays organ, piano and harpsichord for the Johannesburg Festival Orchestra when required. He has frequently accompanied the Chanticleer Singers on organ and is the official accompanist and assistant choir master of the Symphony Choir of Johannesburg, as well as organist of St Columba's Presbyterian Church in Parkview.
Kevin enjoys travel, rugby, football, cricket, lazy days at the beach and a good night out!
