Corinne Chapelle – Violin

 

Upon hearing Corinne Chapelle Corinne Chapelleat the age of fifteen, Sir Yehudi Menuhin proclaimed her as, "one of the most promising talents of her generation".

She received her first violin at the age of two and a half, and at three and a half gave her first concert. As a French-American, she spent her early childhood in California and there, at the age of ten, was awarded first prize at the Mozart Competition. Following this she worked with Yehudi Menuhin after entering his school near London, which was succeeded by attending the Juilliard School of Music in New York. During this time she was invited by Pinchas Zukerman to take part in his Performance Program and she later participated in master classes with Josef Gingold, Lorand Fenyves and Liana Isakadze. She has studied and works regularly with Ana Chumachenco at the Hochschule für Musik, München.

Corinne Chapelle has been honoured with numerous awards including first prizes at the Julius Stulberg International String Competition, the First Prize of the Los Angeles Music Center Spotlight Awards, the Jascha Heifetz Violin Award, as well as top prizes at the First International Liana Isakadze Violin Competition 2003 in St. Petersburg, Russia and the Montreal International Violin Competition. Ms. Chapelle has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician throughout Europe, Asia and the United States. She has been invited by orchestras such as the Polish Radio Chamber Orchestra (Amadei), the Orchestre Symphonique de Tours, the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, the Romanian State Symphony Orchestra, the Prague Chamber Orchestra, the Georgian Chamber Orchestra, the Pacific Symphony Orchestra, the Cologne Chamber Orchestra and the Mozarteum Orchestra. She has performed in the worlds most celebrated concert halls including the Mozarteum in Salzburg, the Kölner Philharmonie, the Prinzregententheater in Munich, the Great Hall of Zurich’s Tonhalle, the Dvorak Hall of the Rudolfinum in Prague, the Athenaeum in Bucharest, the Dortmund Concert Hall (Konzerthaus) in Germany and at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées in Paris.

Chosen to represent the Corinne ChapelleUnited States as an International Ambassador of Music, Corinne Chapelle performed at the Senate Caucus in Washington, D.C. and gave the Chinese premier of the Barber Violin Concerto with the Beijing and Shanghai Philharmonic Orchestras. Frequently invited by international music festivals as a soloist, chamber musician and to conduct master classes, she has appeared at the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival in Finland, the La Jolla SummerFest in California, the Aspen Music Festival in Colorado, the Rheingau and Schleswig-Holstein Festivals in Germany, and the festivals of Carcassonne, La Baule and Mazauges in France. At the Salzburg Festival 2004 she appeared with great success in the commemoration event in honour of Wilhelm Furtwängler, and in 2007 was reinvited for a performance which was broadcast live on the radio by the Bayerische Rindfunk. She has collaborated and performs regularly with artists such as Eduard Brunner, Liana Isakadze, Milana Chernyavska, Daishun Kashimoto, Konstantin Lifschitz, Adrian Brendel, Priya Mitchell, Alban Gerhardt, Franz Hummel, Robert Kulek, Fabio Biondi and Gary Hoffman.

Corinne recently received rave reviews, filling in on short notice, for a performance with conductor Adam Fischer and his Haydn Festival Orchestra in the Haydn Saal at the Esterhazy Palace, broadcast live for radio and television. Corinne can be heard this season in Germany, the Netherlands, Romania and Switzerland.
